The Puppy Coalition was originally founded in 2012 in Escondido, California dedicated to helping owners with their pet behavior problems (not just puppies) from municipal shelters that routinely kill dogs. If we can help educate owners to deal with newly adopted shelter dogs, we can often turn a trial home into a permanent one. It currently is based in Los Angeles.
Thom Mathews is a co‑founder of the TPC and serves as Vice President and board member of The Puppy Coalition. He is a financial advisor in his day job and a dedicated Puppy Coalition helper with Karla the rest of the time. Formerly in the movie and television industry, he brings a creative eye, strong organizational instincts, and a calm, steady presence to every rescue effort, making him an indispensable part of the Coalition’s leadership team.
Karla Mathews is the President of the Canine Coalition DBA The Puppy Coalition. Karla has been in dog rescue for about 12 years and has served as a lead rescuer for Ark Charities, Martina Animal Rescue and now The Puppy Coalition. She frequently fosters many dogs such as these two young fine examples at her home in Van Nuys.
